AOM for Enhancing LiDAR Range Resolution
The In-House Translational R&D at the LiDAR lab of the TiH focusses on the integration of Acousto-Optic Modulators (AOMs) with LiDAR systems represents an innovative and promising approach to developing compact, affordable, and high-performance solutions.
By leveraging the capabilities of AOMs, the project aims to address key challenges in precision and range resolution faced by conventional LiDAR technologies. Specifically, the objective is to achieve a range resolution exceeding 1 cm, enabled by utilizing a laser pulse width of 66.7 ps at a wavelength of 850 nm. This advancement would mark a significant improvement in the precision of laser-based measurements and applications.
Navavishkar Navigation Enabled System
Indoor navigation is vital in smart environments where GPS signals are weak or unavailable. This project presents an Android-based system for indoor localization using mobile sensors. It applies dead reckoning techniques using accelerometer, gyroscope, and last known GPS data. An integrated OCR module enhances accuracy by identifying text-based indoor landmarks. The system is designed to operate effectively in GPS-denied environments. Image capture and processing add contextual awareness to the navigation experience. Micro-LiDAR support is considered for mapping and position referencing. The solution benefits both users and administrators in indoor settings. Development involved sensor fusion, software design, and workflow optimization.
